Terms of Use
In short
Use PageTime for reading. Don’t rely on it for anything safety-critical. Subscriptions are billed by Apple and cancelled in iOS Settings. We can change the app; if we ever have to stop, we will say so.
These terms apply between you and PageTime when you use the PageTime iPhone app or this website. Installing or using the app means you accept them. Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement also applies to the app, and where the two disagree about the licence itself, Apple’s takes precedence.
Your licence
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use PageTime on devices you own or control, for as long as you comply with these terms. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app except where the law says you may regardless of what a contract states.
Your content
Your books, sessions and everything else you enter stay yours, and stay on your phone. We do not claim rights in them. Because there is no account and no server-side copy, you are also the only person who can back them up — deleting the app deletes them permanently.
Subscriptions
- PageTime Full is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the App Store, at the prices shown in your storefront at the time of purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- A free trial, where offered, converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited if you buy a subscription during it.
- Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
We may change prices or what each tier includes. If a change makes an active subscription materially worse, it takes effect at your next renewal and not before, and you can cancel first.
What PageTime is not
PageTime is a reading and screen-time tool, not a medical device, not treatment for any condition, and not a security product. App shielding depends on Apple’s Screen Time framework and can be undone by anyone with your device passcode — including you, deliberately, through the emergency unlock. Do not rely on it to restrict someone else’s access to anything that matters.
Reading estimates are estimates. They are built from figures you supply and are shown as approximations, and no decision with real stakes should rest on them.
Acceptable use
Don’t use PageTime to break the law, to interfere with the app’s operation or anyone else’s use of it, or to attempt to gain access to systems or data you have no right to.
Availability and changes
We may add, change or remove features, and we may have to interrupt the service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. The app is provided as-is and as-available. If PageTime were ever to be discontinued, we would announce it here with as much notice as we reasonably can.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything here.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost profits or lost opportunity arising from your use of PageTime; and our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us for the app in that period.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for PageTime. Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of them and may enforce them against you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of any mandatory local law and may bring proceedings in your own country.
